How do i flirt with a guy that i normally don't talk to?

There is this guy that i really like. Oh im in the 7th grade if that helps. But anyway this guy like every once in a while he'll start talkin to me about something random. But like i want to talk more with him and flirt more with him. Like i really don't want to go up and just start talking to him...that would be akward. But like what should I do because i like him soo much and i want to ask him out but i want to flirt with him first. Oh and hes in 2 of my classes. When should i flirt and how?

just starting up a conversation with him will be a small step in flirting because if you dont talk to him then all of a sudden you are... he will notice.

maybe in class, ask if he did the homework, or if there a test, ask him did he study, even offer to give him a quick quiz before the bell rings..
